Crossing the river is now done by motor boat - Rs10 if you're local, Rs15 if you're foreign. The coracles are no longer in use.

The dancing singing women of Hampi. These went from guesthouse to guesthouse and wailed and sang something that sounded like it was supposed to ward off evil. They got paid for it, though most of the money probably goes towards maintenance of the costume.

The coracles. This is how the guide book says you're supposed to get across the river. By March 2010 these were up on the river bank and crossing was done via normal wooden boat.
